Why Diets Fail Every Time

If you’re anything like me, you’ve no doubt tried pretty much every diet out there but with little or no success. Why is it that so many diets fail? So many “weight loss gurus” still preach the myth that drastically reducing your food intake will be a healthy way to weight loss. In the real world when we go on a low calorie diet we are more likely to remain the same or even gain weight. The human body is designed to regard reduced food consumption with starvation. When we constantly eat less we send our body into starvation preservation mode.

Research tells us that people who are able to maintain a healthy weight normally eat have diets that contain lots of complex carbohydrates (like vegetables, cereals etc) and individuals who are overweight usually have diets that have a lot more fat and simple carbs. Being able to interpret what these studies tell us about which factors contribute to weight loss is crucial when creating a weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight is to start a low carb diet where you are careful about how many carbs you take in every day, but are not too concerned about the other foods. You should however make sure you don’t overeat, by keeping your portion sizes down, and ensuring you get a good proportion of healthy nutritious foods which should also be low in saturated fats.

The weight gain is largely a factor of lifestyle and eating habits and our weight increase didn’t happen over night but rather over a period of months or even years. As it took so long for the weight to creep up, it will also take time to lose weight in a healthy fashion. The people who are unable to comprehend the balance between avoiding the bad foods, ensuring you get enough water, exercising and getting plenty of sleep are the next customers to those pushing the current fad diet, diet pill or quick weight loss tips. It’s not hard to find these fad or celebrity weight loss plans and diet pills. As we live in a world where we want everything now, it’s very easy to believe that there indeed magic weight loss pills to take the weight off very quickly, than to believe that we have power to enhance our lives and live healthier longer lives where being overweight is behind us in the past.

Diets will fail because they do not teach a balance within your body. Most diets are doomed to failure because they are designed around making the promoter or some company money instead of making a diet plan or program that will actually aid a person to lose weight.

We hear everywhere that those who are obese are more likely to succumb to diseases and other serious health problems due to obesity. Too much fat in your diet is one of the main contributors to unneeded body fat.

For too many years people have been instructed that they need to cut down on food or watch every last calorie to be able to burn off excess fat. The truth of the matter is that our bodies know perfectly well how to manage weight providing we give our bodies what they need to stay healthy – like making sure you get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, good and nutritious foods, and daily physical activity.

Getting rid of those extra pounds is not just about counting calories, you should also not overeat. Proper portions of wholesome foods are crucial to losing weight. Another vital aspect to weight loss is to make sure you get plenty of exercise. Our bodies were made to move!
