Why Starving Yourself Doesn’t Work

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

When you begin a diet, hunger is the one thing you have to overcome. For many people, a diet means forgoing food or reducing food intake. It is too difficult for most people to endure. That is why many diets do not work.

It is human nature that we do not want to starve, and hence we will try to ensure we get adequate food all the time. Sometimes, when we go hungry due to a diet, we will overcompensate by eating much more at another time. If you are trying to maintain a diet that makes you feel hungry all the time, then there is little possibility to succeed.

The outcome for most people after having to endure this period of hardship is to get back onto the ‘eating too much’ bandwagon and pile the weight back on that has been lost on the diet, albeit at a far faster rate. That is why people who managed to lose their weight initially may overeat at a later date. Hence, you may end up more disappointed than before.

To succeed, you need to have a sensible diet, not a fad diet that is espoused by many celebrities. Reduce your food intake by a little each time, and make sure that you do not deprive yourself of all your favourite food totally. If you have been on an unhealthy diet, or had been eating huge portions, it may be more beneficial to cut down bit by bit each time.?

Why Diets Fail

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

How many of you have been on a diet and realise it did not work? Too many people start on a diet but the number of people who succeed and maintain the weight loss they want is meagre. When they fail, they will try again or change to another fad diet. This is all in the vain hope that the next diet will work.

What they do not realise is that they must overcome their mental obstacles. One of the problems that people face who are on a diet is that they keep thinking about food. They have let the word ‘food’ overpower their thoughts when they are on a diet.

When you keep thinking about something, naturally it will manifest itself somehow. They talk about it to others, and they tell everyone they are on a diet and food becomes the main focus of their thoughts the whole day.

Mental images of a rich New York Cheese Cake surfaces when they keep thinking about how they cannot eat that.

Requirements For A Weight Loss Programme

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Any weight loss programme must be specially designed so that it fits your requirements. That is because everyone has different needs. Are you slimming down to fit into your wedding gown? Or do you just want to look fabulous. If you are unhappy with how you look, you need to determine what you need exactly.

First, you need to look at all aspects of your lifestyle, such as the food intake, and your regular exercise programme. Your working environment needs to be considered too. Is your work making you put on weight? This will affect the way you manage your slimming programme.

Some work environments are not conducive to weight loss. For example, if you are an office worker, you have to sit at your deskbound job for hours. For others who have to travel frequently, they may have irregular eating hours and habits. These are some factors that need to be taken into consideration.

Your gender, weight and height will determine how many calories you should be consuming during the day and your nutrition can be adjusted accordingly to ensure that you will lose weight while still remaining healthy.

To ensure that you remain healthy, you will need to look at any supplementation too. This will be adjusted according to your fitness regime that you may be already on. Before embarking on any slimming programmes, you need to take into consideration your current condition of your health. If need be, check with your doctor first. He or she may be able to advise you on your weight loss programme.

How To Lose Weight Effortlessly Video

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

A funny video by Xiaxue on how to lose weight painlessly without exercising. I once saw the machine in my secondary school/ middle school gymnasium and it tickled me greatly that you could lose weight by standing on the machine and the vibrating straps would tighten your fats and tone your body. I never really tried it then, because I really did not need that.

It’s amazing this old machine is still working well in the video. Will vibrating massage really help to help you slim down quickly and effortlessly? I know that some slimming salons have such equipment. Probably they may work if you use them long enough, but I think I’ll probably go and exercise and get the endorphins.

Maintaining Weight Loss Programme

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Getting started on a slimming programme may be easy, but maintaining the weight loss programme that has been tailored for you is tough. After one week, you should be able to adjust accordingly so that you can maintain the programme in the long term. Reasonable results can then be expected.

As you increase your fitness level, and your body fat reduces, your specific requirements will change. Sometimes, it may change quite quickly, while sometimes you may hit a plateau with your weight loss.

If you have someone to help you monitor your slimming programme, you will be more motivated to stay on it and not let it go to waste.

A weight loss programme that has been designed specifically for you may not be suitable in a month or two. If you are aware of such factors, then you can also make sure you stay ahead and get maximum results in the shortest time possible.

In addition, keep a record of what you eat and how much you exercise, so that you can easily fix what is not working and continue with what is working.
